VP Stumps in Central Florida

Vice President Mike Pence paid a call on central Florida Thursday.Pence came to the Orlando area to campaign for two Republicans who are in tightly-contested races.

Pence spoke in support of Rick Scott, who is challenging incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson; and in support of Ron DeSantis, who is running against Andrew Gillum for the post of governor.

But Pence found himself dealing most immediately with the latest bombshell to rock the Trump administration.

The New York Times published a rare anonymous  editorial, written by a senior White House staffer.

The editorial, titled "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration," describes what the writer calls an administration that "continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic," and says many staffers work quietly and constantly to blunt what it describes are some of its force.

Pence took the author to task for writing the editorial and the New York Times to task for publishing it.

"I think it's a disgrace," he said. "The anonymous editorial published in the New York Times represents a new low in American journalism."
