Central Fla. Lawmaker Seeks Investigation of Concealed Carry Issues

A state lawmaker from Orlando is asking the governor to order an outside investigation of the state's concealed carry licensing program.

Senator Linda Stewart, of Orlando, says an internal investigation by the Florida Department of Agriculture seems more like a cover-up.

"This report is flawed, and its representations are incorrect," she said. "Therefore, they need to look at this report and do an independent investigation."

Hundreds of concealed carry permits were issued to people who didn't qualify, but Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam claims they've corrected the problem.

Stewart says she still wants Florida's Inspector General to check it out.

Putnam is now running for governor and his administration of the concealed carry permit program has become an issue in the race.
