Scott Pruitt Resigns As Head Of Environmental Protection Agency

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has resigned, days after he was confronted by a protester inside of a Washington D.C. restaurant. President Donald Trump tweeted that he accepted Pruitt's resignation and that Andrew Wheeler will take over as the new administrator of the agency.

I have accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this. The Senate confirmed Deputy at EPA, Andrew Wheeler, will...

...on Monday assume duties as the acting Administrator of the EPA. I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!

Pruitt has dealt with multiple scandals since taking over as head of the EPA. Many criticised his free-spending ways, which included a $43,000 soundproof phone booth in his office and first-class flights which cost taxpayers $90,000. He was also investigated for his living arrangements in which he paid just $50 per night to stay at a Washington D.C. apartment owned by the wife of an energy lobbyist.
