Big Tourism Numbers for Orlando

Orlando played host to 72 million visitors in 2017, according to the regional tourism outfit Visit Orlando.

That makes Orlando the first U.S. destination to hit that mark.It's also up 5 percent from 2016.

According to the tourism figures, domestic visitation grew to 65.86 million people and international visitation grew to 6.15 million.

Orange County Convention Center attendance reportedly grew 5 percent to 1.53 million.

Airline traffic for Orlando in 2017 was also up by more than 6 percent from 2016, according to tourism authorities. 

The numbers mean that the Orlando tourism industry is one of Florida's more lucrative, valued presently at roughly $70 billion.
