Temporary Pulse Memorial Established

A temporary memorial to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting was opened Tuesday.

A special early look at the memorial was held for family and friends of the victims of the shooting, as well as for survivors, according to people associated with the memorial.

Accounts of the scene reveal that the memorial consists of green spaces, seating areas, as well as fencing with panels that display notes and photographic tributes to the 49 people who lost their lives in the shooting during the summer of 2016.

Visitors have spaces to leave mementos of their thoughts for the victims of the shooting.

The memorial is located at the site of the nightclub, and plans for a more permanent memorial are in the works.

According to officials with the onePULSE Foundation, they will start searching for architects and designs for the permanent memorial and associated museum in July.

Officials said the search is expected to continue through this calendar year.
