Gas Prices Rise, Then Stall Briefly

Spring has sprung, and with that came higher gas prices.

AAA says Florida gas prices increased nearly 10 cents during the past week, but leveled off over the weekend.

How long the leveling stays in place remains to be seen, but officials note we are historically in the season of price increases.

AAA analysts say strong demand, tightening supplies, and record-high gasoline exports gave gas prices their boost, and they concede there is still potential for higher prices through the spring.

Sunday's state average of $2.64 was just 3 cents below the highest price of 2018, according to analysts.

AAA says gas prices had the most expensive March in four years, averaging $2.54 for the entire month.

The most expensive gas price averages in Florida are in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, Crestview-Fort Walton Beach, and Port St. Lucie.

The least expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater.
