Burn Ban in Seminole County

Seminole County Fire Department and Seminole County Office of Emergency Management have enacted a county wide burn ban.

County officials say the county wide, mandatory burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning that has not been specifically permitted by the Florida Forest Service.

That means bon fires, campfires, and the burning of any yard debris is not allowed at this time.

Officials say they're also discouraging the use of consumer fireworks, as well.

Officials say conditions are too dry for safety, and the kind of rain needed to relieve them is not in the cards any time soon.

County officials say the burn ban will stay in effect until further notice.

Any person who violates the burn ban can be punished either by up to 60 days in jail or a fine of up to $500 ... or both.

Officials say those wishing to report any violations of the burn ban can call the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
