Trump Says GOP Memo "Totally Vindicates" Him in Russia Probe

In a tweet Saturday morning, President Donald Trump says a recently declassified memo by the GOP "totally vindicates" him in the Russia probe.

"This memo totally vindicates 'Trump' in probe," Trump tweeted Saturday morning. "But the Russian Witch Hunt goes on and on. Their was no Collusion and there was no Obstruction (the word now used because, after one year of looking endlessly and finding NOTHING, collusion is dead). This is an American disgrace!"

The memo, written by GOP  House Intelligence Committee Chairperson Devin Nunes alleges the FBI abused its powers of surveillance and used the Fusion GPS dossier to obtain a FISA warrant.

The controversial memo alleges senior Justice Department officials used information obtained from the so-called Steele dossier to obtain additional surveillance warrants on Carter Page, a member of the Trump transition team and former adviser to the president.

The memo also notes that the FISA application was triggered by information from Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, pointing to additional sources.

Democrats have criticized the memo as an inaccurate and misleading portrait of the Russia investigation that is meant to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into alleged interference in the 2016 election by a hostile foreign power. Democrats on the Intelligence Committee want to release their own memo as a rebuttal to the GOP's allegations.
