FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe Steps Down

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has reportedly told FBI staff that he will step down from his position effective Monday according to multiple reports on the matter.

McCabe was eligible for retirement in March, but because of leave accumulated over time, he is able to step down earlier than planned. He will technically remain an employee of the bureau until his official retirement in March.

The deputy director's exit comes more than a week after it was reported President Donald Trump wanted McCabe out of the FBI. It was also reported last week that the president had asked McCabe who he had voted for in the 2016 election.

McCabe became acting FBI director last May after Trump fired ex-FBI Chief James Comey. The White House did not provide a comment about McCabe's decision to step down.
