Gas Prices Steady after Spike

Gas prices plateaued over the weekend in Florida, after what analysts describe as an unseasonable spike at the pump last week.

Florida gas prices rose an average of 13 cents in 3 days, according to AAA Auto Club Group.

After the surprise spike, AAA analysts say the state average did not budge through the course of the weekend.

Prices are holding steady at $2.53, according to AAA.

The most expensive gas price averages in Florida are in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, Miami, and Homosassa Springs.

The least expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville.

Analysts say the usual autumn pump price plunge was interrupted by rising oil prices.

Analysts warn that oil prices could be somewhat volatile this week, as the consolidation of power in Saudi Arabia leaves speculators questioning the impacts on global oil supply.

AAA officials observe that domestic oil supply and production made solid gains.

If that becomes a trend, analysts say oil prices could drift lower and take gasoline prices with them.
