Gas Prices Still Plunging

Florida gas prices averaged $2.47 on Sunday after declining 7 cents during the past week.

That's the news from AAA Auto Club Group, which notes the biggest weekly discounts were seen in the Tampa market, Orlando, and Punta Gorda.

Although Florida gas prices are 25 cents less than a month ago, analysts say the state average remains 22 cents higher than this time last year.

Officials say the current plunge at the pumps takes place after prices skyrocketed because of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Oil and wholesale gasoline prices have inched higher, but not high enough to stop the downward trend at the pump just yet.

Analysts say retail prices are still inflated by a little more than 10 cents, thanks to the hurricanes.

So motorists should expect another round of discounts this week.

The most expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Miami, West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale.

The least expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Orlando, and Fort Myers-Cape Coral.
