Pittsburgh Steelers team officials confirmed that players on the team will remain in the locker room during the national anthem before their 1 p.m. ET game with the Chicago Bears.

The Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told CBS's Jamie Erdahl that the team would not be participating in today's national anthem by staying inside the locker room.

"You know, these are very divisive times for our country. You know, for us, as a football team, it's about us remaining solid. We're not going to be divided by anything said by anyone," Tomlin said before the game.

"We're not going to play politics. We're football players, we're football coaches. We're not participating in the anthem today, not to be disrespectful to the anthem, but to remove ourselves from the circumstance."

The news comes as several players on the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens kneeled earlier this morning in London while "The Star-Spangled Banner" played during their game there.
